winter wonderland

It's Boone and it's cold.

Lots of snow on the ground and there is still more coming down as we speak.

Here is a picture of some of my friends and me of course and of course we are girls and you HAVE to do a jumping picture!! haha.

Sadly, even though it maybe a blizzard outside there are still buildings we have to walk to and classes to attend.

I'm just excited it has been snowing a lot lately. Towards the end of our LAST HOME GAME :( it started snowing, as we finished off Elon. :)

I'm so excited for what is to come later today and into the night! yayyy!

Rain.

Surprise, Surprise It’s raining…AGAIN.

It’s hard enough trucking around all your junk in your book bag when it’s sunny. It has been raining I think this WHOLE WEEK.

It’s not even the “good rain”. Here’s what I mean by good rain; hard and fast rain, thunder and lightening, so all you want to do is curl up in your bed and watch the sky light up… that is good rain.

Here all it is is drizzling. Drizzling with fog that you can’t even see what is ahead of you. ANNOYING!

Oh and how CONVENIENT is this. For those of us living on the west side of campus almost three times a day our west side selves have to hike down the mountain and through the tunnel to get to class. Well as your going down hill to get to the tunnel the sidewalk that leads to this lovely tunnel… they tore up. Yes, they took the cement and now its just a BIG HOLE IN THE GROUND. So now we have to go down hill through the muddy wet grass (that grass is never going to look the same). The only good thing about this is, you see many people slipping and falling because of how wet and muddy the grass is… it is very funny, UNTIL IT HAPPENS TO YOU!

Yes, sadly I was not paying attention, not wearing the right shoes, and I was “one of those people” who slipped and fell.

Yay for rain!

First Game

I went to my first Appalachian State Mountaineers Football game this past weekend, it was a blast! The boys played Jacksonville high school, I mean Jacksonville College, we beat them 56-7. AMAZING! Before the game some of my friends got a chance to hang with the one, the only Chancellor Peacock! They even got to put on the not one, not two, but three National State Champ rings! Can you say jealous??

these girls.

There's two people that I know who can stand to sleep in the same room with me, listen to my singing, watch my dancing, and have fun watching the ridiculous show WILL&GRACE! You know who you are! "cus" K and "wannabe cus" Y.

This is our relationship...in a nutshell.

"Cus" K I have known since dirt. She held my cute little self when I was a little tiny baby. She was a student aid in 3rd grade so I wouldn't cry every day. We have the exact same taste in music, which we talk about frequently. K has even been known to call me just to ask me what ringtone she should buy. Shout out to "cus" K!!!

"Wannabe cus" Y I have known for a couple years now I guess and she has put up with my ridiculousness from the beginning. What a trooper! She even had to be stuck with me and be my bed buddy over the beach! Y and I share the same appreciation of taking pictures! Shout out to "wannabe cus" Y.

I am so thankful they put up with me and my crazy self! Love you guys!

Amusing Ourselves to Death

COMM 1200 a.k.a Fundamentals of Human Communication has already caused anger between people in my class.

Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman is a about the 20th century and how our communication skills have significantly lowered. The main topics in this book up for argument are: do Americans truly understand what communication really is meaning are texting, e-mail, and I guess blogging considered forms of communication AND how can we, as Americans, know right from wrong in the media today.

When it comes to communication I totally think texting, e-mail, and blogging are all types of communications. I know that maybe I think this way because I was born in this phase where "everyone is doing it" and hey, I think texting, e-mail, and blogging gets the job done quite nicely. Others in my class want to spit on the floor I stand on when I say that. Their viewpoint is; we shouldn't just do something because everyone else is doing it OR because its the easiest. I really don't know what to say to that because every type of communication you put thought to whether its a letter or if its a phone call or even a text. So I think those students and I will just have to agree to disagree on that matter.

Information glut, do we really know how to distinguish what's right from what is wrong? People are going to believe what they want to believe and reporters are going to continue to twist the story in a way that makes the story more appetizing to the ears. Do I find that wrong? Yes, maybe. But do we all do that when we tell stories, ya know tweak it just a little bit? Yes. There is nothing we can do to change the way reporters report. Sadly, I have some people in the class that disagree with me and actually take offense that I don't care that people may tweak the story just a tad bit to make the story interesting.

Ah...this is going to be a fantastic year.

Falling Water

So, I just recently made my way back up to school and the first weekend here my friends and me hit up the best place ever! The beautiful waterfalls!

Although it was beautiful it was rather difficult to get to. First it takes about 30 minutes to get to and once you got there you thought... where could the waterfall be? Wellllll... to get to it you have to go STRAIGHT down for about half a mile (dirt, pebbles,
and roots)..then once you get down you climb rocks and walk across "sticks" that you don't think can hold you. ugh. but then you get there and you see this beautiful waterfall and you realize it was alll worth it!!! :)

I was too scared to jump off. Sorry people it was my first time, maybe next time ill have a video of me jumping or sliding off. But I did take a picture of a random guy sliding off the rocks into water for you!!

I think if I decide to go down the waterfall I think I would definitely slide down. There are some crazies out there who actually slide down face first... that will definitely not be me!!

I can't wait to go back again!!

The Sole Purpose

I never thought I would blog and honestly I never really wanted to, but I had too. This is my story

I don't read blogs for a living, nope definitely don't do that, but I did enjoy reading this one young ladies blog and the unfortunate thing about her is, she no longer posts anything. I mean yes, yes she does do the occasional blog...maybe once every two weeks but i needed something more like every day or even every other day would be sufficient to me. soooo here i am filling out information, creating my template, and writing my first blog. I don't know how much I will have to say or if its even interesting but I will do my best to be the greatest blogger there ever was!!!
